4 Board Books for Babies and Toddlers
I shared some of my son’s board books when he was baby. Unfortunately I never got to add to that list.
Today, I’m going to share another set of board books that I recommend you should get for your baby or toddler.
Would you believe that after almost two years, my son still wants to read these books?
And they also survived the drools and bites, one of the reasons you should get board books for babies.
It has nice patterns and colors that will interest toddlers. It is also a counting book with numerals, text and hearts for counting with toddlers.
What I like to do with my son is point at the other things in the book and not just read the words. You should do this more often with other story books too because sometimes there is also a different story happening in the background.
Where is Baby’s Mommy?
Where is Baby’s Mommy by Karen Katz is a lift the flap book. We have 3 books by Karen Katz and I really like the illustrations because of the different patterns and colors as I’ve mentioned.
In this book, Mommy and Baby are playing hide and seek. The toddler goes exploring around the house looking for his/her mom. Your child gets to lift the flap to check if it’s the baby’s mommy behind it.
I initially though that if my son already knows the mommy is not there, that this book won’t be of interest to him. I was wrong, now that he’s turning three, he likes reading it on his own. I think it’s probably the asking and answering that makes it fun to read this book.
The Game of Finger Worms
The Game of Finger Worms by Hervé Tullet is really funny to read. It has a hole for your or your child’s finger worm aka finger with a face. I just noticed now that it says 3+ at the back, but my son had lots of giggles ever since we started reading it.
Just a little caution before buying this book, the finger worms go to some really weird places like hiding in your food. You might want to check out a copy first if it is suitable for your child. If not, you can still have finger worms without the book!
Hush Little Polar Bear
Hush Little Polar Bear by Jeff Mack is my son’s new favorite book. We just bought this book recently, but he’s requested it so many times that he can recite the lines by heart.
It is about a polar bear dreaming of adventures with her girl. If you love bears or teddy bears, you should definitely get this book.
I just read this book a few days ago, my son usually reads it with his Mom or Ninang, I think it’s now one of my favorite children’s book. Or I may be bias because our house loves bears.
The illustration calms you down, it looks fuzzy like a teddy bear or blanket.
This is a great bedtime book, the rhythm gives a nice and gentle feeling which is good for winding down a toddler at night.
Do you have one of these board books for babies in your library?
Inspire your child to love reading by giving him or her one of these books!
