Summer weekend fun
What fun things did you do with your kids last weekend?
There seems to be a lot of activities for kids happening around Metro Manila for you to choose from. Although the sun was scorching hot last weekend, my family went out for some fun activities.
After gym school, we tried to go to the World Street Food for lunch, but we were a bit early and the line was already long. We couldn’t possibly wait for 30 minutes in the queue when our skin were already burning up just for walking there. We had our lunch at a nearby restaurant instead where it was cool and indoors. Hehe!
Do you and your kids love to read books?
It was World Book Day last April 23 and I hope you were able to go to a book event like the
Dia del Libro
There were different publishers and bookstores offering 20 percent discount on their books!
My wife, son and I each bought our own books of course. Our son went to Adarna’s booth since he was familiar with the books on display and went on to choose a book that he liked. So we made him pay for his own book!
We arrived in the afternoon just in time for the puppet show and story telling by the National Library of the Philippines. My son was busy munching on snacks during the show, and I was wondering if he was understanding the puppet show. Apparently he was just hungry for snacks and couldn’t wait to join in the fun after he finished eating.
We played at the park after the puppet show, while listening to the soft and cool voices of the UP Singing Ambassadors who were practicing their songs for later.
Although it was really hot the entire day (the water jug we brought wasn’t enough), we had a really fun day!
On Sunday, my wife wanted to go to the Manila FAME at the World Trade Center, so my son and I tagged along where we saw lots of cool and pretty stuff. We brought our baby carrier that we haven’t used in a long time because we knew there would be lots of breakable things at the expo. Good thing that it still fits!
We went to Mall of Asia right after, for the
Grand Summer Art Camp
Anyone can join the Grand Summer Art Camp by National Bookstore for free.
There were lots of arts activities and a raffle if you complete the activities. Unfortunately, some booths already run out of materials.
We also got to see the Powerpuff girls!
We also had the chance to watch the Hi5 Philippines perform on stage, the kids were really pumped! I don’t know what kind of spell their songs have because my son keeps jumping on my shoulders. I guess kids just can’t help but dance to their music.
Although it was tiring, last weekend was loads of fun! We are looking forward to some more fun weekend activities this summer.
What are your plans for fun weekends this summer?
